new favorites and old friends

This was an exciting and beautiful weekend for our clan...

We don't have pictures to prove it, but we had more family in town!
The hubby's sister, brother-in-law and niece all came to visit.
We had a nice dinner at our place Saturday night which was when we discovered a new favorite...

let me explain...

After telling tale after tale of baby Caleb's adventures with "solid" foods
<although they are all actually quite mushy, runny and messy>
we wanted to show off our little non-eater.

After rice cereal...

pears...

sweet peas...

and carrots...

we tried sweet potatoes to show everybody our silly faces.

We were hesitant, but we gave it a shot...

and we thought about it...

tried it again...

and really took the time to fully savor the texture, temperature and all the flavors of this new concoction, and...

SUCCESS!

Once again the kid made us fibbers.

Oh well, we still celebrated!

Sunday, after church and before the hubby went bowling,
Mommy got reacquainted with a dear old friend.

He too, was hesitant...

but in the end all was well!

He was a perfect little gentleman!

Well maybe just a little rusty...after all it has been about 14 months since he was really required to do anything except eat and poop....

All in all it was a beautiful weekend with beautiful weather and lots of fun!
